Scintillating Similes- Year 2/3

As gentle as a night time breeze

As bright as a flash of lightning

As tall as Mount Everest

Flynn

As busy as a job that never stops

As pretty as the highest mountain looking over the horizon

Voice like a rushing river

Nuala

As gentle as the waves that lap over and over again

As pretty as the blue bird that sits on my window

As proud as a fox that just got food

As silent as the wind in the night sky

Jemma

As gentle as a summer breeze

As hot as the scorching sun

As light as a butterfly's wings

Hannah

As hungry as a shark that can't find food

As dark as a foxes den

As slow as a slimy snail

Ben

As dark as a foggy forest

As beautiful as a gleaming flower

As beautiful as the sun going down on the hills

Lucy

As slimy as an eel struggling to free itself from the gripping fishing hook

As brown as the iris in your eyes

As long as endless love

Sunny

As red as a cricket ball speeding down the pitch

The car was as fast as Usain Bolt running as fast as he could

As flammable as cotton pyjamas

Paddy

Below are samples of our Story Writing In February:

One day there lived a little Meerkat family. There were Mr Meerkat and Miss Meerkat, Po and Bo.

One day the Meerkat family were just finishing off todays special: a fried scorpion, when they heard a noise. It sounded like a fox digging. "I hear a fox digging," cried Bo. "It's going to eat us," cried Bo.

"Huddle behind me," said Mr Meerkat as he grabbed the half eaten scorpion from Bo's plate, "I've got this all under control." Just as he said that the fox plopped down in front of him. Mr Meerkat threw the scorpion at the fox. The fox scuttled up the tunnel and was never seen again.

One day in the deep dark jungle, a strong and burly man was walking in the jungle. He was walking in the jungle because he got lost and decided to go for a wander. He was carrying a heavy sword with a long silver blade and a really pointy tip. He also carried a round gold shield which was also fireproof.

While he was walking in the jungle he heard a long low howl from close by. He pulled his sword from his patterned leather sheath. A wolf emerged from the dark green bushes. The wolf was in the jungle because his mean relatives told him to because they didn't like him. The man got ready to kill the wolf. The man had to kill the wolf because if he didn't the wolf would have killed him.

The jungle

Once upon a time there lived a boy that always wanted to explore the world.

So when he grew up he did explore the world. While he was exploring the world he found a big, dark, spooky jungle. He really wanted to go in and explore it so he went inside.

Then he saw an elephant. He said "what a cute little elephant." The elephant said "hello," and the explorer screamed. He ran and never saw the elephant again.

The explorer remembered that he had a torch in his backpack. He turned it on and then he turned around and there was a tiger just about to eat him. The explorer ran and ran. The tiger leaped. He was just about to eat him when the explorer saw that there was a rock behind him. He saw a gap that he could fit in he went in it. The tiger splatted and died. The explorer felt sorry for the tiger.

The explorer ran out of the jungle and went home.
