Our selective stream

Our school is a partially selective high school. Students in the selective stream participate in separate English, maths and science classes. They generally join the non-selective students for classes in other subjects. To enrol in a selective stream, parents and carers must apply and students must sit a test.

What is a selective stream?

Our selective stream is for high potential and gifted students in Years 7 to 12. These are students whose intellectual potential exceeds that of students of the same age. They learn with classmates who have similar abilities. This helps teachers teach topics faster and in more detail. To learn more, visit Selective high schools.

Placement test

Students must sit a placement test to be considered for Year 7 placement in a selective high school or stream. The placement test is designed to assess your child’s abilities in reading, thinking, maths and writing. Parents are offered a place based on their child’s test performance and the order of their school choices. To learn more about the placement test, visit Selective high school practice tests.
